The Alberta Charolais Association was incorporated in 1974 in order to strengthen its members in the areas of cattle promotion, breed improvement and continuous education. The Alberta Charolais Association continues this tradition of assisting its breeder members and associates in realizing all the value that is to be gained by use of Charolais cattle and by their participation in the Association’s activities.

The Alberta Charolais Association is a non-profit breed organization in its 41st year of existence and for those years it has worked to serve its members in the areas of cattle promotion, breed improvement and continuous education of its breeder members and associates.

The Alberta Charolais Association (A.C.A.) currently has closeClassic Charolais Cow to 600 members, many of whom have been breeding Charolais cattle since 1961 and have seen second and third generations continue the family business and tradition in the Charolais breed. The business of the Alberta Charolais Association is conducted by a volunteer group of 12 directors who are A.C.A. members and Charolais breeders.

The A.C.A. has several committees such as Show and Sale, Advertising and Promotions, and 4-H. The Show and Sale committee plans and oversees those events in the province with regard to showing of Charolais cattle. The Advertising and Promotions committee plans and distributes promotional information regarding Charolais cattle and events in Alberta The committee has two display booths that travel to various trade shows and fairs to promote and educate about Charolais.

Charolais Association Youth CommitteeRecognizing that its youth are its future, the A.C.A. has a Youth Committee which works to plan events related to the cattle industry for young people in the breed in Alberta. The A.C.A. has for over 40 years worked with 4-H clubs in the province and has given awards to those members showing Charolais or Char-cross animals. Those leaders needing information on these awards can contact the A.C.A. office for more information. The A.C.A. also has two youth scholarships which are presented annually to graduates moving into post-secondary education.
